1. SUPPORT TO THE GIPSY CHILDREN
MESSO India has been working among the 25 remote villages situated in Kurinjipady and Bhuvanagiri block of Cuddalore District where the number of Gipsy communities are residing in the colonies and selling their ornaments. In order to guide them to continue their school education this project offered school uniforms and stationeries to the 53 children in Vadalur Gipsy Colony where 138 families joints to live together.
2. HELPING TO THE CHILDREN OF DISADVANTAGED SECTOR:
Still the rural people are not intending to send their children to school especially girls from the community of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Dalits). In order to help them to continue their study and make their hard subject to become easier the project conductors were running special coaching classes to 137 children in evening at their living vicinities with the support of educated youth
3. ROAD SAFTY MEASURES:
Rapid urbanization paves way for vehicles which results in road traffic. In urban and semi urban areas number of accidents take place for not following the traffic rules and road safety. Therefore, our project committee has organized orientation; rally and exposure activities among the different target people especially school children, women, truck and auto drivers, and village communities in the alternative levels with the support of Traffic Police and other resource sectors in Kurinjipady, Vadakuthu, Indira Nagar, Sethiyathoppu, Vadalur, Neyvely and Kullanchavady.
4. SOCIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME TO THE RURAL COMMUNITIES
Due to modernization and centralization the rural communities are not involved in maintaining their common properties like school, worship places, roads, bus stops, ration shop, village administrative office, primary health center, park and garden, water resources, natural parks etc. MESSO has organized a series of social awareness programs to make the public to get motivation to maintain their public property. There were seven activities were conducted in different levels.
5. SCREENING CAMP FOR IDENTIFING STD/HIV/AIDS &T.B PATIENTS
MESSO INDIA concentrated more on the part of health initiatives in rural especially among the gipsy, scheduled and most backward communities. They are living in lack of awareness on many health problems such as TB, STD/HIV /AIDS, Eye problems such as night blindness, patches, and dryness in eyes and the like. In order to raise the awareness Messo India was conducted health awareness cum screening camps in villages like Keethupet, Vadakuthu, Arangamangalam and Abathanapuram. These camps were organized on the month of July, August, September, November and December. In each camp about 150 were people participated and benefited.
7. CELEBRATION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
MESSO has organized a rally among the Self Help Groups (SHGs), Local leaders, educational institutions and village communities on 5th June at Vadalur. Resource persons shared their views, methods and protection of natural resources, conservation methods and tree planting. This initiative was carried out in Keethupattu, Vadalur and Vadakkuthu. Nearly 57 people are directly benefited and 567 people are indirectly benefited. Messo India also provided IEC materials such as wall posters, hand outs and other literatures.
8. WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION
Every year Messo India has been celebrated women’s day on the 8th of March among the rural women. On this special day they are gathered discuss and work fore their rights and demands. They also raised slogans against the violence and atrocities on women. Nearly 5 villages participated and benefited and 155 women from 7 self help groups participated
9. RALLY ON STD/ HIV/ AIDS PREVENTION
In order to generate awareness and prevent the vulnerable diseases a rally was organized in three blocks of Cuddalore Taluk. About 720 people were participated in the rally and raised slogans. The condom was distributed to the public. The hand outs were distributed with high lighting the causes of STD/ HIV/ AIDS.
10. AWARENESS ON FAMILY EDUCATION
Family education promotes good humanitarian values. In order to promote value oriented and personal development education MESSO India was organized five programs for the rural people especially women were they learnt various skills on family maintenance. The resource people were brought from neighboring voluntary health organizations. As much as 120 family members were benefited
11. REHABILATATION ACTIVITY FOR THE PERSON WITH DISABILITIES
In our area we identified 172 person with disabilities inclusive of total blind. In order to rehabilitee them form poverty and ignorance Messo India were organized income generating activities such as net making, basket making, wire chair netting etc. The blind people were motivated to get loans from the government. And also 7 disabled people were motivated to get medical treatments in the district government hospital.
12. HAND / CRAFT PROGRAMME
In order learn about various Handy Craft skills the implementing organization MESSO-INDIA was organized a three day training was organized where there the children and women learnt various Handy Craft skills such as basket making wiring, flower making, candle making purchase making etc. about 72 people were benefited by this initiatives.
13. NEIGHBOURHOOD CHILDREN PARLIAMENT PROGRAM
In order to organize the children for attaining their rights by organizing the Neighborhood Children Parliament (NCP), Psychomotor Development of the child through the group discussion, cultural activities, Conducting the election for developing leadership qualities and reduce the child trafficking, street children, child labor, school dropouts, children abuse MESSO India organize NCP at Vadalur, Neyveli, Vadakutthu Ponnankuppam . MESSO INDIA envision that all young people will take personal responsibility and action toward protecting the environment in their communities through projects, and that these inspired youth volunteers will become the next generation of conservation leaders to their communities. Hence we organized the awareness on environment and global warming among the Youth volunteers become leaders when they are given the freedom to identify and solve environmental problems on their own.
The global and environmental activities carried out in the vicinity of Vadakuthu, Vadalur, Pantruti and Neyveli. The activities carried out with the support of the Dr.Abdul Ajis, Scientist who has played vital role to generate awareness on Co2 recycling.
